The Effective Scientific Presentations Workshop is an innovative program I started in 2020. It is built around the premise that scientific presentation is a central element for your career in science but also challenging for many researchers. Therefore presenting effectively needs extra effort and guidance. The Effective Scientific Presentations Workshop helps you develop a set of presenting tools to learn how to excel through the presentations you deliver.
In many ways, The Effective Scientific Presentations Workshop is a new, unique form of science communications training. It origins from my personal experience and uses a series of exercises to help you excel through the presentation you deliver.
The workshop is not about “rules” in scientific speaking. You will gain an understanding of your personal presentation style and how to improve it further. From crafting a story to handling the dreaded Q&A, there’s guaranteed to be something to help you improve your presentations.
Each workshop includes:
- Planning your presentation: Identify the aim and clarify the message of your presentation. Define the content to support your aim.
- Designing your presentation: How to structure your presentation. Designing slides.
- Getting ready: Voice projection. Tonal variety. Overcome anxiety. Show passion.
- Delivering your presentation: A few minutes before. Body language. On stage.
- After the presentation: Answering questions. Networking.
